"Plants vs. Zombies" game, "Garden Warfare," will receive a free comic soon.

IGN reported that the story for the "Garden Warfare" comic will bridge the gap between the two "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare" games. Dark Horse Comics will publish the comic. It will be written by Paul Tobin, who also worked on the previous "PvZ" comics "Lawnmaggeddon" and "Timepocalypse." Art will be created by Jacob Chabot and will start on Oct. 28.

In the first "Garden Warfare," Dr. Zomboss attacked Suburbia. "Garden Warfare 2" will have the plants go on offensive to reclaim their home. The comic series will explain how Zomboss took control of Suburbia.

"Garden Warfare 2" may be released next year. It was previously reported that the new "Plants vs. Zombies" game may be launched between Jan. and Mar. 2016. It has been rumored that next year's game will be a sequel to last year's "Garden Warfare," "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2." New job ads for Popcap have revealed references to the shooter.

According to PlayStationLifeStyle.net, Popcap promised to provide free content for "PvZ: GW2" similar to previous "Plants vs. Zombies" games. Free content support for the upcoming game is an interesting feature especially coming from the video game publisher.

Character progress and unlocks will carry over except for cosmetic items. There are six new characters, three plants and three zombies. Furthermore, for the first time in the series, zombies will need to defend their tombstone against hoards of plants with Crazy Dave as their leader.

Multiplayer and local co-op will still be present in "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2." Players can also play online with split-screen. No PlayStation Plus subscription is required for the solo or split-screen modes. Players can also play with A.I. in any game mode.

"Garden Warfare 2" is slated for release in 2016.
