The show will still feature the same cast (and voice actors), but all grown up.  Main protagonist Taichi will be  17-year old high school student when the show premieres.

The original voice actors will be back to lend their voices to the iconic characters when the new "Digimon" series premieres:

  • Chika Sakamoto as Agumon
  • Katori Shigemoatsu as Piyomon
  • Takahiro Sakurai as Tentamon
  • Kinoko Yamada as Palmon
  • Miwa Matsumoto as Patamon
  • Junko Takeuchi as Gomamon
  • Yuka Tokumitsu as Tailmon
  • Mayumi Yamaguchi as Gabumon.

Apart from the returnin voice actors, "Digimon Adventure Tri" will also make use of the show's original theme.

"According to an announcement, the new show's Japanese theme song will be an updated version Koji Wada's Butter-Fly, which was the one used for the original Digimon Adventure opening theme. Ayumi Miyazaki's song brave heart, which was also featured in the 1999 anime will get the same treatment," i09 reported.

There have been very little information about the new series, but as Movie Pilot noted, it could be made "available through simulcast on various streaming platforms."
