Warner Bros. hasn't confirmed it yet, but Iron Man has, so it's all good, right?

Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that he will reprise his role in the upcoming "Sherlock Holmes 3"; however, the Dr. Watson to his Sherlock, Jude Law, hasn't yet. Is the third installment actually in the works, and will a release date be announced soon?

In an interview with Collider, Susan Downey confirmed that the third installment to "Sherlock Holmes" will push through. She said, "There's an idea, there's an outline, there is not a script yet."

"Trust me, the studio would love there to be a script. But our feeling is, we gotta get it right. At a certain point it's going to be too long --- we've waited too long. We're working as fast and responsibly as we can to get a great script," she explained.

During the promotion of his movie "The Judge" last year, Robert Downey Jr. also spoke about "Sherlock Holmes 3" development. In a report by E! Online he said, "Yes, we have a 'Sherlock 3' in development."

"We want it to be the best of the series, so that's a pretty tall order. Also, Perry Mason is a property I'm looking forward to developing further, going back to the 1931 book series... similarly to what we did with the first 2 Sherlocks, mining the original material for things that are 'new.'"

Meanwhile, recent rumors reveal that while RDJ has been vocal about "Sherlock Holmes 3" development, Jude Law's statement that he hasn't been approached yet seems to give fans the idea that Dr. Watson will no longer be part of the installment. This is not the case naturally. There couldn't be Sherlock without his Dr. Watson.

In a report by Screenrant, Jude Law said that it's only been difficult to gather him and RDJ simply because of their busy schedules. He explained, "It's a slow process."

"We're all busy. So getting us together to try to nail that has taken a little bit longer than we had hoped."

"I hate celebrating anything I've done, but I'm so proud of those films."

"Sherlock Holmes" 3 release date has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more updates here!
