During her first visit to Japan, First Lady of the United Staes (FLOTUS) Michelle Obama promoted the White House initiative proposed by the UN, ''Let Girls Learn" in collaboration with the Peace Corps.

The educational program is geared for girls who are not attending schools in developing nations, WWD reported.

The "Let Girls Learn" educational program will take root in 11 developing nations -Albania, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Georgia, Ghana, Moldova, Mongolia, Mozambique, Togo and Uganda- and will team up with the Peace Corps and other similar aid agencies.

Michelle Obama's Asian trip also includes a second stop in Cambodia despite protests of her visit to the country, haunted by its murky human rights record.

"I arrived in Tokyo, Japan last night, and this morning, I was proud to stand with Mrs. Akie Abe, the wife of Japan's Prime Minister, as we announced a new partnership between Japan and the United States that will help girls around the world go to school," Obama wrote on her travel log.

The Peace Corps will train 7,000 volunteers through the "Let Girls Learn" education program.

According to a UN report, attacks on girls education is common world-wide; the peace organization has urged the U.S. to invest in education abroad. And the White House's answer was the "Let Girls Learn" education program.

FLOTUS Michelle told kids in Japan that they have an opportunity to change world, just as she went from a Chicago town to Princeton University. She asked Japanese children to dream big in their home countries and chase their dreams.

"Japanese women are among the best educated in the world but often struggle to work their way up the career ladder in a country that values long days at work and long nights of drinking with colleagues. The Abe administration has made increasing female participation in the workforce a key part of its plan to revive the Japanese economy," the Daily Life reported.
