The Paleo diet is a new trend in nutrition wherein it tries to replicate the diet of cavemen in ancient Paleolithic era hence the name, Paleo diet. People in those times lived through hunting and gathering of food and depended on lean proteins such as fish, poultry, eggs, fruits and vegetables. It is termed as today's healthiest diet because it is claimed to be the only nutritional diet that works well with human genetics.

According to the World Health Organization, around 1.4 billion people around the world are obese and in the United States, an estimated one-third of the population are also obese. Hence, many resort to diet plans that suit their body and psychological motivation.

Diet fads are now popping up like mushrooms in the internet and Paleo diet is one of them.

It was claimed that the Paleo diet is an effective diet regimen that will make a person disease-free, healthier and fitter. How does it work?  Many claim that the Paleo diet is the most compatible diet to human genetics yet they seldom explain why.

The Paleo diet actually works by normalizing the body's insulin levels. This will make the body reach optimal body composition, health and energy. Eating would tend to increase the body's sugar levels and in proportions, as well as increase insulin. Insulin is in charge of transporting glucose to the different body cells for consumption.

When people eat too many carbohydrates, it creates too much sugar in the body. In turn, the body can become insulin resilient and it will become out of control. Long term dependence on insulin may make it hard for the body to lose fats.

Grains are unhealthy says many experts wherein it contains lectin, which can lead to intestinal damage, inflammation and other diseases. In addition, it contains phytic acid which is stripping off many vitamins and nutrients in food.

Aside from all of these, it raises the blood sugar levels in the body that can lead to many diseases such as Diabetes. Therefore, eating a diet with less carbohydrates and more of meat and proteins can lead to a healthier body and weight loss.

Lastly, it is said that this diet is the most compatible to the human body. It was claimed that homo sapiens are designed because of evolution to consume the diet of our ancestors during the prehistoric times. Our bodies are actually programmed to fit to the diet they once ate like more of meat and vegetables or fruits. The hunter-gatherer diet does not include many of the food we eat today including grains and wheat.
