Angelina Jolie made her first surprise public appearance last Saturday when she attended the Kids' Choice Awards. This comes barely a week after the actress had surgery.

Last week, she confirmed in an op-ed she wrote for The New York Times about her decision to have her fallopian tubes and ovaries removed.

"2 years ago I wrote about my choice to have a preventive double mastectomy... I promised to follow up with any information that could be useful, including about my next preventive surgery, the removal of my ovaries and fallopian tubes," the actress wrote.

"I had been planning this for some time. It is a less complex surgery than the mastectomy, but its effects are more severe. It puts a woman into forced menopause. So I was readying myself physically and emotionally, discussing options with doctors, researching alternative medicine, and mapping my hormones for estrogen or progesterone replacement."

After proceeding with the surgery last week, Angelina Jolie attended the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards in Inglewood, California. The 39-year-old actress was accompanied by her special dates: her daughters. 10-year-old Zahara and 8-year-old Shiloh supported their mother as she received Nickelodeon's famous orange blimp for Favorite Villain for her role as Maleficent.

Angelina was wearing a black dress with a light pink lipstick and opted to keep her hair down. The trio was all smiles as they watched performances from Iggy Azalea, Nick Jonas, Jennifer Hudson and 5 Seconds of Summer.

The actress was also nominated for the Favorite Movie Actress category but lost out to Emma Stone's performance in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

Angelina Jolie-Pitt's latest project was directing "Unbroken" which gained her a nomination as Best Director for the Critics' Choice Movie Awards. The next project of the star is directing the upcoming romantic drama "By The Sea" which stars her husband Brad Pitt.
