Last October, Apple Inc. released the iPad Air 2 as successor to the iPad Air. With its thinner, lighter and more radical design, the Air series of the iPad has more features from the traditional 9.7-inch iPad.

In order to create its paper-thin design, Apple opted to remove the space between the screen and the display. In terms of resolution or touchscreen technology, there are no significant differences between the two iPads. However, the iPad 2 has a better processor at 64-bit A8X chip and its M8 motion coprocessor compared to original iPad Air 64-bit Apple A7 chip and the M7 motion coprocessor.

"The graphics processor in the A8X are so good it's now 'delivers graphics once possible only on desktop computers and gaming consoles,'" Michael Grothaus wrote about the iPad Air 2's processor.

It has a 2 GB RAM but the storage size options for the iPad Air 2 is 16, 64 or 128 GB. The standard home button was replaced with the Touch ID feature. Users can now log in the device using their fingers. Plus, its rear camera now has an 8 MP sensor which captures images in 3264-by-2448 native resolution and 1080p HD video.

Federico Viticci replaced his personal computer with an iPad Air 2. He did the experiment to prove that iPads were not just "consumption devices." Viticci was able to write blog posts, respond to emails, look up recipes, prepare for podcasts as well as watch videos with his iPad.

"For all its advances, the iPad is still surprisingly not suited for common computing tasks such as downloading files with a web browser, attaching documents to an email message, and referencing two distinct files or pieces of information at once while doing something else," he added.

"The iPad is a computer that lets me work and communicate at my own pace, no matter where I am. That, I think, makes it pretty good."
