AirAsia Indonesia 8501 Crash Update On Search And Recovery Operations; Some Remains Indentified

According to a live feed about the latest AirAsia Indonesia 8501 crash update search and recovery and operations (SAR) on reddit.com, information was revealed about the the SAR conducted by the Indonesian rescue team BASARNAS.

An April press conference detailed news of the latest bodies and remains found by BSARNAS divers. 115 remains (which include partial body parts) were recovered. Of these, 111 are believed to be from 99 passengers. The following bodies were described with the following details:

  • B44 suspected to be transgender
  • B112 identified as Reynaldi Theodoros
  • B113 identified as remains from previous identified passenger (B061/Viona Florenzia Abraham)
  • B114 & B115 identified as Eni Wahyu

The Reddit AirAsia Indonesia 8501 crash update said AirAsia has not released any updates since March 20.

According to the Ministry of Tourism in Indonesia, Surabaya's tourism industry has dipped 15% since AirAsia was unauthorized to fly the QZ8501 route to Singapore's Changi airport after the ill-fated AirAsia crash on Dec. 28, 2014 .

Transport Minister Ignatius Jonan said the ban on the flight route would be lifted and new permit application would be issued when the final investigation report was released. The AirAsia QZ 8501 crash investigation is expected to end in June or in early July.

AirAsia CEO, Tony Fernandes, met with "President Tony Joko Widodo, Transportation Minister Ignatius Jonan, and Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya in the president's office on Apr. 2, 2015," according to Reddit.
