Turmeric is well known worldwide for its many health benefits and its ability to cure illnesses. It will not be as potent as it seems if not for the chemical compounds present in it that work together to provide effective results.

It contains volatile oils and essential oils that have many therapeutic properties. Turmerone, zingiberene, cineole and other monoterpenes are components of the volatile oil. It has anti-inflammatory effects that can help ease illnesses such as digestive ailments and can protect the liver from damage. Furthermore, it relieves pain and swelling in arthritis and gout.

Curcumin, the most potent and popular component of Turmeric, is a natural antioxidant and is actually the biologically active component of turmeric.
