They say that what a person consume may add to the emergence of headache. It is caused mostly by too much activity vessels in the head. In addition, sugar levels and activity can also trigger headaches.

Some ingredients in food can trigger headaches like caffeine which is found mainly in coffee, teas, and chocolate drinks. Headaches can be caused by the food people eat because it causes fluctuations in blood sugar level which causes spasms in the blood vessels in the head. Food additives like monosodium glutamate or amines are formed from the breakdown of proteins and are associated with the emergence of headaches because it can affect body functions like increasing blood pressure, temperature and alter mental functioning. Also,Problems with eyesight such as astigmatism or near-sightedness can cause headache. They can cause painful headaches, nausea and vomiting.

There are many medications that cause headaches as their side effects. Most antihypertensive drugs and nitrates for the heart cause severe headache as an unwanted side effect. To avoid headaches, follow proper dosage instructions and do not mix it with alcohol.

There are conditions in the ears; nose and throat can cause headaches. Congested sinuses can lead to headaches. Ear infection can lead to pressure in the temporal area of the head causing headaches and lastly, throat problems can also cause headaches. Viral or bacterial infection of the tonsils can irritate the nerves there.

Also, hypertension can cause damage to blood vessels and the nerves around them due to the increased pressure exerted on the vessel walls over time. There are some infections  like meningitis that can cause irritation of the nerves along the brain and spinal cord due to inflammation caused by pathogens.

Headache happens after a brain or spinal injury because of the increase in cerebral and intracranial pressure and blood clots that had accumulated inside the brain. It was evident that people with high blood pressure or hypertension suffered from headaches more frequently.

Autoregulation require the organs telling the amount of blood supply they need. Hence, constriction of the blood vessels in the brain happens. Headaches can be caused by poor posture of a person. If the muscles of the upper back, neck and shoulders are stiff,  it can cause muscles to contract and pain receptors would send pain signals to the brain.

The trigeminal nerve is found in the neck and ties it to the brain stem. When muscles of these areas pinch the trigeminal nerve, it can send pain signals to the brain and headaches occur. Whenever it is too hot or too cold, can trigger an attack of headache.

Lastly, fluctuating temperature can cause headache because it can lead to imbalances in brain chemicals like serotonin. When the body experiences chemical shifts and imbalances, the brain nerves are sensitive and become irritated causing headache. Furthermore, when there is lowered blood volume, it causes lack of oxygen and blood transported to the brain causing pain.
