"Lucifer" comes to Los Angeles!

The latest Fox TV series is the loose adaptation to one of Neil Gaiman's characters in the highly acclaimed "Sandman" series, known as "Lucifer." The show's trailer has been unleashed, revealing the lead character portrayed by "EastEnders" star Tom Ellis. Here are the details available so far.

Fox recently released the trailer of the upcoming TV series "Lucifer" based on the "Sandman" character created by Neil Gaiman. Development of the project began late last year, with an eyed release date set sometime in 2016. An official pilot was ordered in February, and the latest trailer has been unleashed.

The titular character Lucifer Morningstar will be portrayed by "EastEnders" actor Tom Ellis and will be joined by Lesley-Ann Brandt who is known for her work in the series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand." Lauren German, Nicholas Gonzalez, Rachel Harris and D. B. Woodside also join the TV series.

According to Variety, "Lucifer" is written by Tom Kapinos of "Californication" who will take on the producing duties together with Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Len Wiseman. Although "Lucifer" is an adaptation, the plot will most likely move far from the DC comic storyline.

A report by DigitalTrends revealed that the TV show "Explores what happens when the Lord of Hell decides to quit his job and move to Los Angeles. While that aspect of the series remains true to the comic book series, the television character's decision to help the Los Angeles Police Department catch criminals is a pretty major departure from the more heady subject matter tackled by his comics counterpart."

Lucifer first appeared in the DC comics "Sandman" by Neil Gaiman. The character was taken to star in his own series, written by Mike Carey in 2000. There was a total of 75 issues released between 2000 and 2006.

The pilot episode for "Lucifer" will be directed by Len Wiseman and written by Tom Kapinos, with a release date set on a vague 2016. Watch the first-look trailer of the newest TV series here!
