Beauty and skin products adorn the shelves of stores and take up the counters or drawer spaces of most bathrooms. As much we patronize these products, research has found that more than 50 percent of them contain harmful and even carcinogenic chemicals and toxins that are harmful to the health.

Thankfully, everything we need to rejuvenate our skin is available to us without having to buy pricey or chemical-infused products. Simply opening our fridge or pantry can introduce endless skin beautifying possibilities.

Honey

Honey is a powerful moisturizer and an antibacterial remedy. Applying honey directly on your face once a day or every other day will leave your skin soft and supple. Simply let the honey dry naturally then rinse off with warm water. You may also mix a teaspoon of honey and two teaspoons of milk along with a teaspoon of gram flour. Mix well and apply it on your face, leaving it for 20 minutes. This mask can be applied once a week.

Oatmeal

More than just a breakfast staple, oatmeal is also a great skin rejuvenating ingredient. Use it as is or mix with honey to exfoliate the face and other dry or rough areas. Rub for 2 to 3 minutes, but do it very gently to avoid redness. You can also use the mixture as a mask, as honey has a very cooling effect that can hydrate the skin.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a great antioxidant, preventing free radicals from contributing to aging and dry skin. It also has wonderful antifungal and antibacterial properties, making it an excellent moisturizing choice that not only moisturizes the skin but also cleanses it. Coconut oil can also be used as a makeup remover. Commercial makeup removers tend to contain alcohol and other chemicals; coconut oil is not only natural, it also erases makeup in one swipe. If you have oily skin, it is best to use coconut oil sparingly and rinse it with warm water.
