“John Wick 2” has already been confirmed to happen, yet its release date remains unclear. according to the confirmation of Lionsgate Entertainment, the sequel’s original directors, David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, including its original screenwriter, Derek Kolstad, will all be returning to reprise their roles from behind the camera.
Of course, Keanu Reeves, the star who portrays the role of the titular bad-guy-gone-good assassin, will also be back to reprise his role. However, there has been no word on who will be selected to portray the villain in the franchise’s second installment. However, Forbes has reported that it is highly likely that Lance Reddick will be back in some capacity.
“People keep asking if I am back,” Reeves said in the movie as John Wick. “I haven’t really had an answer. But, yeah, I am thinking I am back.”
True enough, and thankfully for Reeves’ loyal fans, the studio has, indeed, given the sequel a green light. The chairmen of the Theatrical Motion Pictures Group, Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman, had declared last year that “John Wick” was a break-out hit. It got a love of positive reviews from the industry’s most relentless critics, as well as earned total gross earnings of $80 million at the global box office, despite a $20 million production cost, as pointed out by Venture Capital Post.
According to multiple online news reports, Reeves’ massive following was a huge factor why the film was a success. “You love the guy first,” said Stahelski. “Good action, bad action – you just love them in action. So, we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves. Then, we will dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.”
That said, it is highly likely that “John Wick 2” will feature even more stunts, paired with the “Matrix” actor’s constantly remarkable charm.
