"Thor 3: Ragnarok" could be the end of Loki should Marvel decide to pattern the upcoming movie to the comics.

Apart from the total destruction of Asgard in the comics, another possible scenario in the new Thor flick could involve a headless Loki.

"The Ragnarok storyline in the Thor comics literally features Thor ripping Loki's head off for his treachery," Movie Pilot noted.

"While it would be difficult not to perceive that as kind of hilarious on film, I can certainly see why a storyline with that much drama is tempting. My question is, with Thor 3, will Marvel go all out with adapting Ragnarok; killing multiple characters and destroying Asgard?"

Meanwhile, a reader commented on the possible plot involving Loki's death and claimed that the well-loved villain could possibly be spared given Tom Hiddleston's contract.

"I don't think Loki will die in Thor: Ragnarok, because Tom Hiddleston will still have movies left on his contract, I am pretty sure," user Christian Meeder said. "But we do need more meaningful deaths."

"Loki doesn't exactly die either. He becomes a literal talking head that Thor carries around with him," user Aaron Kelly replied.

Despite the next movie having an apocalyptic treatment mainly at the hands of super baddie Surtur, fans should not leave Loki out of the picture.  As several fan theories have suggested, it looks like Thor's conniving bro is more sinister than audiences think.

"Loki in the MCU is that dude who you know who is pretty much a tyrannical asshole but for some reason you sort of rock with him. He's constantly scheming and calculating and just trying to make things harder for his enemies. Remember when he got caught on purpose a la The Joker in the The Avengers? Prime example of a classic Loki move," Movie Pilot noted.

"At the end of Thor 2, Loki is disguised as his father, sitting on the throne of Asgard, which is what he always wanted."

"Thor 3: Ragnarok" is slated for a Nov. 3 2017 release.
