Jason Statham may not have been part of the show just like how fans would have wanted it, but Marvel recently announced that they will be adding a new cast member who will face-off with Charlie Cox in "Daredevil" season 2 and it is none other than "The Walking Dead" star Jon Bernthal.
Jon Bernthal, the actor who portrayed Shane Walsh from AMC's "The Walking Dead," is now part of the "Daredevil" cast! The executive producer of Marvel TV series, Jeph Loeb, shared insights on the news regarding why they chose the "Fury" actor, Jon Bernthal to be part of "Daredevil" season 2.
According to Marvel, Loeb said "Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences." The report revealed that those were the traits that the producer of "Daredevil" was looking for and are the perfect characteristic for the role that cast member Jon Bernthal will play.
Jon Bernthal's "potent blend of power" is one of the reasons why he is perfect for the role of Frank Castle. Frank Castle, who is more commonly known as The Punisher was born Castiglione, is a former U.S. Marine Captain who fought in the Vietnam war. After encountering an execution created by the Costa family, he was determined to bring Justice to New York City.
Just like Daredevil, The Punisher is also a vigilante. He punishes the law breakers and gives them the punishment that they deserve. A report by SuperHeroHype revealed the importance of introducing the Punisher into "Daredevil" season 2. "Frank Castle is the kind of walking tank that adds a new flavor to this world, and since there have already been strikeouts in his name, perhaps it's time to mix it up," read the report.
"What Marvel has here is a really good opportunity to deliver on something we have only seen glimpses of before, to expand their world in a new direction, and to challenge their established characters in exciting ways. Let the war begin."
