A lot of people were greatly saddened by CW's decision to cancel "Hart of Dixie," that includes show creator, Leila Gerstein.

If it was up to Gerstain, she would have extended the show until season 17, however, the network did not have the same vision as hers.

"After The CW formally announced its decision to cancel the show in May, Gerstein actually posted on Twitter that she would have gone 17 years doing the show," Masterherald reported. "Unfortunately, the network thinks that "Hart of Dixie" was only good for four seasons and that was it. It had its good run and it was quite fun while it lasted."

"'Hart of Dixie' was one of The CW's best performers on Hulu online streaming service, but that just was not enough for the network to give it another chance, reports Perez Hilton.com"

Speculations are now claiming that the show's lead star, Rachel Bilson, is the main reason for the series abrupt end.  This was also somehow confirmed by one of the show's stars, Jamie King.

"She [Jamie King] said that the likely reason that the show will be discontinued is because lead actress Rachel Bilson has already signified her intention even during the fourth season of the show that she wants to be a full-time mother and spend more time with her baby daughter," Master Herald reported.

"Jamie added that it has been a tricky situation for "Hart of Dixie" because the issue is not about the ratings but the timing. She revealed that Rachel got pregnant and wanted to take a maternity leave. Nobody can fault her for that because every woman is entitled to do that, King explained."

While "Hart of Dixie" has been officially cancelled, talks about a possible spin-off also surfaced online.

"It's still possible that we might see a spin-off in a similar tone, although it will of course not feature Rachel Bilson's character for some time, maybe even at all. This is just a rumor so far and hasn't been directly addressed by anyone involved with the original production," Master Herald continued.
