A new character was revealed for the new "Dragon Ball Z" TV series, "Dragon Ball Super."
Anime News Network reported that the name for one of the new characters in the upcoming anime TV series "Dragon Ball Super" has been revealed in the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper's Mantan Web and other websites. The character's name is Shanpa.
According to iDigitalTimes, it certainly goes with the theme since the names of Beerus and Whis are based on alcoholic drinks and Shanpa is pronounced like "champagne" in Japanese. Furthermore, he closely resembles Beerus, the God of Destruction from the "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" and "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F" films.
New "Dragon Ball Z" TV series, named "Dragon Ball Super," will reportedly have an enemy who is stronger than Buu or Freeza. The anime show will be set after the events of the Majin Buu saga and the recent film, "Resurrection of F." Beerus and Whis will return as regular characters in the series.
"After defeating Majin Buu, life is peaceful once again," Shueisha's V Jump magazine wrote about the first episode's story. "Ordered by Chi-chi to earn money, Goku works even as he wants to train even more. Meanwhile, Goten, about to become a brother-in-law to Videl, sets out on a journey with Trunks to find her a present."
Masako Nozawa will lend her voice to Son Goku, Gohan and Goten while Ryo Horikawa will voice Vegeta. Hiromi Tsuru will take on the role of Bulma, Takeshi Kusao as Trunks, Mayumi Tanaka as Krillin and Masaharu Satou as Kame-Sen'nin. The voices for Piccolo, Chi-Chi, Videl, Mr. Satan, Majin Buu, Beerus and Whis have also been confirmed. Plus, Jouji Yanami will return as the narrator.
"Dragon Ball Super" may have as many as 100 episodes or more. Toei Animation is reportedly planning to make a minimum of 100 episodes for their new TV series which will air in Japan this Jul. 5, running on Sundays at 9 a.m.
