A special “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” set piece may have just been leaked through a video that was posted on the YouTube channel, bigfootkam. As seen in the video, a massive, fake skeleton of a whale was being built for the pirate-focused franchise’s fifth installment.
According to The International Business Times, work on this huge whale has actually started on Tuesday with the use of coated polystyrene material. Although the huge set piece was created by the film crew at Village Roadshow Studios, the set will reportedly be brought to Hastings Point, which is in New South Wales, Australia. The crew had to disassemble the whale and reassemble it at the site with the use of scaffolds, generators, and certain power tools.
Gold Coast Bulletin has reported that the town’s people – who are usually very quiet – have been sent into a frenzy with the news that the “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” cast will be arriving in their town pretty soon.
According to the report, it is expected that the site will be completed by Friday. Directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning will reportedly be bringing in more equipment for the film before the entire team starts to film. The lead of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” cast, Johnny Depp, will reportedly arrive at the site where the scene will be filmed from a helicopter.
The female lead of the film, Kaya Scodelario from “The Maze Runner,” had reportedly injured her shoulder after she accidentally fell on the set while filming for “Pirates of the Caribbean 5,” as reported by Perth Now.
This is not the first time that a cast member of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” was injured. Filming had to be put on a standstill after Depp injured his hand in an unrelated off-set accident. To have his hand surgically repaired, he had to fly back to the United States.
