“Cyberpunk 2077” was first announced by CD Projekt RED through a trailer and a press release in January of 2013. Although the developers have not revealed any key details that fans have been waiting for, they did release a relatively short teaser trailer to appease the waiting public.

“We released the ‘Cyberpunk’ teaser trailer because we wanted to see how gamers felt about it,” co-founder and CEO Marcin Iwinski told IGN. “We were super excited about the project internally. But, what if it was not the right thing for us? The response has been incredible. Now, it is just up to us to deliver. We are hard at work on it.”

Since CD Projekt RED had already announced that ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will be out sometime either in 2015 or 2016, it can only be expected that “Cyberpunk 2077” will not be out until 2017. Thankfully, though, the game’s developing team has already started to be “hard at work” at the much-awaited game.

Plus, Iwinski also praised Bethesda for being clever with how “Fallout 4” was unveiled to the public.

“We are impressed with ‘Fallout 4''s rollout,” he added. “They came on stage and said, ‘It is here. It is real. It is coming out on this date.’ We are going to do something similar. We are going to wait to reveal the game until we can show off a very meaningful piece of it.”

Apparently, the developers at CD Projekt RED have been working on “The Witcher 3” for quite some time now. According to Iwinski, having them work on “Cyberpunk 2077” as soon as “The Witcher 3” is out will help keep the studio’s creative energy very high.

“People might want to leave and go work on something else,” Iwinski continued. “We are excited to switch to guns. We intended to keep the team energized with ‘Cyberpunk.’ The core team is working ‘The Witcher 3’’s expansions, but more and more people are moving over onto ‘Cyberpunk.’”
