Could Thanos be the real villain in "Thor 3: Ragnarok?"

Several reports have already linked the MCU supervillain to the new God of Thunder flick, but as updates remain to be unconfirmed, fans should take these speculations with a grain of salt.

Some reports are suggesting that Thanos could be behind Asgard's fall, just like how he managed to bring the evil through Ronin in "Guardians," and Loki in "Avengers."

"Since Ragnarok in the comics is instigated by the Norse god Surtur, we could see Thanos pulling the strings from behind the scenes, much as he did with Loki in The Avengers, and Ronin in Guardians of the Galaxy," Movie Pilot reported.

"Sure, given the weight of Ragnarok as an event, this wouldn't be happening nearly on the same scale. However, if Ragnarok does see the destruction of the Bifrost, the fall of Asgard and perhaps even the death of Thor himself, would it not be amazing to find out in a post-credits sequence that this was actually Thanos' doing? It would give some weight to the upcoming The Avengers: Infinity War, and tide the galactic end of Marvel over while all this Civil War business is going on!"

According to previous details, it looks like Thor will be at Thanos' mercy in the upcoming flick. Previous speculations have teased on the possibility that "Thor 3" will feature the fourth infinity gem, with Thanos and Loki bringing further ruin to Asgard and the Earth.

"Besides Thanos putting on his Infinity Gauntlet, the other Infinity Stone peekaboo we got in 'Avengers 2' was that vision Thor had of the impending Ragnarok that gives 'Thor 3' its title,"Movie Pilot reported.

"Not that there wasn't already a lot of speculation that the apocalyptic events of 'Thor: Ragnarok' were going to be caused by some Infinity Stone related power bid by Loki, but this pretty much confirms it. The thought of Loki trying to make some ill-conceived deal with Thanos or bargain with him for a shot at greater power isn't too hard to imagine. And then there's those other Infinity Stones still waiting to be seen."

"The Soul Stone is a sentient power that has a thirst for people's souls," the article continued.

"It also serves as a key to a heaven-like dimension and has the ability to steal people's powers. In the wrong hands it could give the owner control over all lives in the universe. This kind of crazy power could make it the final stone to appear in the MCU and the swallow-your-soul desire that this powerful gem has could also make it the perfect catalyst for all the death that is expected to descend upon Asgard in 'Thor: Ragnarok.'"

"Thor 3: Ragnarok" is slated for a Nov. 3 2017 release.
