The Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Motorola Droid Turbo, Moto X 2013 and Moto X 2014 is now going to be rolled out, much to the delight of Motorola smartphone users. Since it is going to be a phased role out, not all users will be able to enjoy what the update has to offer at the time that it is released to the public.

For instance, for the Motorola Droid Turbo, the update is exclusively being rolled out to users with Verizon for the time-being, according to GSM Arena. And, just like any other OTA, or over the air, update, tech users will also have the option to manually initiate the download once it is available to the unit, and manually install it as well.

The news of this distribution came out shortly after David Schuster, the senior director of software product management of Motorola Mobility, announced that the Android 5.1 Lollipop soak test was already initiated.

“I know this is going to make some people happy,” Schuster wrote on Google+. “We have started the Droid Turbo soak test for the Android 5.1 upgrade this evening with our forum registered users. If all goes well, we will open it up later this week.”

Plus, the company also announced via its official Twitter account that the update was going to be rolled out sooner than later.

“Thanks for your patience,” read the social media post. “We hope you are as excited as we are about #Lollipop. Coming to a #DroidTurbo near you.”

The Motorola Droid Turbo is not the only device from Motorola that is getting some Android Lollipop attention.

“I mentioned yesterday that we were looking at a potential issue on Moto X (1st Gen),” Schuster wrote on Google+. “I would give an update shortly.”

A couple of weeks after the upgrade was rolled out to Canada, Brazil, and the United States, the update is now also going to be available for Moto X 2013 units in 14 more countries. These countries will include Italy, Qatar, Hong Kong, Australia, Netherlands, India, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Spain, Belgium, Malaysia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and Oman.

It seemed to be quite a busy day for the Android 5.1 Lollipop update since, only a day after the upgrade hit Verizon units, it was immediately made available to US Cellular and AT&T variants of the Moto X 2014 as well.

For US Cellular users, the update is already in full deployment, which means users will soon get an OTA notification on their unit. Meanwhile, for AT&T units, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is open for pull, which means the update will have to be manually fetched from the device’s menu settings, according to GSM Arena.
