Almost a month after NBC cancelled the psychological thriller-horror series and there have been no takers. Recently, both Netflix and Amazon bowed out of providing a new home to "Hannibal" season 4 yet showrunner Bryan Fuller remains hopeful for the renewal of the show.

Latest development on Bryan Fuller's quest to find a new home for "Hannibal" season 4 hasn't turned out quite well. A report by TheWrap revealed that Netflix and Amazon rejected to house season 4 and thus no renewal news yet for the story of Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

"'Hannibal' [season 4] won't go on at Netflix or Amazon, who have both passed on picking up new episodes of the cancelled NBC drama, according to showrunner Bryan Fuller," read the report. This was based on Fuller's reply to a fan question about where the renewal of "Hannibal" season 4 will be. Where the showrunner sadly shared news that up to this day, no network has picked up renewal and the show remains cancelled until it has been taken in.

However, Fuller remains positive for renewal as he affirms that he is indeed working to find other possibilities for "Hannibal" season 4. On Fuller's official Twitter, he shared the devastating news to fans.

Meanwhile, last week's news that lead actors Hugh Dancy (Will Graham) and Mads Mikkelsen (Dr. Hannibal Lecter) have been released from their "Hannibal" contract seems to have pushed more towards the cancellation of season 4 rather than its renewal. With the recent news about Netflix and Amazon, renewal of season 4 now seems more bleak than ever.

IBTimes reported other possibilities for the future of "Hannibal" season 4 and revealed that there could still be a renewal for the show but not without set backs. "Other options like Hulu and Yahoo could be in play here, but the likely costs to give the cast new contracts and the budget to maintain the trademark production quality could prove too expensive."

"Plus, streaming services prefer to acquire shows that allow them to augment their back catalogs and the show's exclusive deal with Amazon for the distribution rights of the first three seasons could be a problem," the report added.
