If you're looking for more motivation to study more, then you just have to refer to a new Colorado study.

The University of Colorado through its Department of Health and Behavioral Sciences has just released a new research that suggests getting higher education can be a good way to extend your life. On the other hand, those who have lower-level education may have the same health risks as those who smoke.

For the study, the researchers analyzed data of population as early as 1925. They then traced how the level of education of at least a million of these people has affected the death rate among adults who are between 25 and 85 years old around 5 years ago.

During the analyses, they found a direct correlation between higher education and longer life span-that is, those who have obtained education after high school were more likely to have a better healthier lifestyle due to higher income. Their mental health was also described as more stable.

The researchers went on to say that receiving a high school diploma may prevent the deaths of more than 145,000 men and women. This is about the same figure of lives saved among the smokers' group if they simply quit the habit.

Getting a high school diploma, however, isn't the be all and end all. According to the study, too, getting a degree in college will eventually save at least 110,000 lives, especially those who have already started some college.

For the researchers, education is a good measure of health risk since it can help predict the future income and career path of a person. Previous studies have also established the link between poverty and obesity, as well as the accessibility of healthy food and more effective health care.

In the United States, more than 25% of the population have not competed their college degree while at least 10% have no high school diploma.
