Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo are no longer Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd on "Grey's Anatomy." The actor's exit from the show has never been a secret.
However, new reports have pointed out that the actor may not have left the show, after all. Rumor has it that he was actually fired from the set of the highly watched ABC medical drama by the show's creator, herself, Shonda Rhimes.
What has made this alleged fight even worse is that his co-star - and on-screen wife - Pompeo, may have sided with Rhimes instead of siding with him. Dempsey and Pompeo have also been close - having formed a very strong friendship through 11 seasons of "Grey's Anatomy."
They have started as boyfriend and girlfriend playing around and fooling around within hospital premises. After finding out that they worked in the same hospital, they became mentor and apprentice - who still fooled around within the hospital. Later, having fallen in love with one another, they became husband and wife, who, of course, still spared some time to fool around in the hospital.
Despite the rumors that Pompeo threw him under the bus, he was still tearful when he described his friendship with Pompeo. "It was magic," he told Entertainment Weekly just this April. "It is beautiful. We are like a married couple. It is 10 years and it was magic from the beginning! Chemistry right away."
Pompeo, on the other hand, is not so friendly. It would even seem that she wants to take the show for herself, now that McDreamy is out of the picture. She even compared her character to the other female leads of Rhimes' other shows.
"It is, like, Annalise Keating carries the show," she told Entertainment Weekly. "Olivia Pope carries the show. Somehow, Meredith Grey needs someone! Why can't I just be the lead of the show the way Annalise and Olivia can?"
