Mobile game "Need for Speed: No Limits" is now officially available on Android and iOS app stores.

Eurogamer reported that the game can be downloaded for free but will have in-app purchases that range from about £1.49 ($2.24) - £79.99 ($121) per item. "Need for Speed: No Limits" also requires a consistent Internet connection.

The game's iOS app will work on iPhone 4 and up as well as iPad and iPod Touch. Its Android app will require Android OS 4.0.3 and up. This is the first original "NFS" game developed exclusively for mobile devices.

"Need for Speed: No Limits" is developed by Firemonkey, a branch of EA who created "Real Racing." The game is launched with more than 900 race events, 100 player levels and more than 10 game modes. It also has 38 race courses as well as 30 different licensed cars.

According to IGN, "Need for Speed: No Limits" also features "hundreds of parts and body kits" from the likes of "Rocket Bunny," "6666 Customs," and others. Plus, similar to Firemonkeys' "Real Racing 3," the game is expected to grow over time.

The game was initially released earlier this year in the Netherlands and Taiwan. Now, it has been made available worldwide.

"Race for dominance on the Blackridge streets and leave rivals in the dust when you accelerate over jumps, around debris, into traffic, against walls, and through high-speed Nitro Zones," EA described the game. "Roll into underground car culture, win adrenaline-fueled races, and become notorious. Ignore the rules, and reach the top.

Firemonkeys boss Tony Lay revealed that he and his team are confident that the game will be a success because of their advantage in the mobile games' industry. "Because we're on mobile devices we have a broader reach," he explained.

"We're trying to make games that fit into their lifestyle. Because a lot of people are time poor and we don't only compete with other games themselves, we compete for timeshare against email, Facebook - a whole bunch of other things. That means we have to be a lot more clever [sic] in the way we engage people."
