As of writing, "Sword Art Online" season 3 release date remains to be a secret.
While many are speculating that the anticipated run will premiere at the end of 2015, others are claiming that a 2016 launch could be more feasible.
The reason for the supposed delay? The equally exciting "Sword Art Online" movie.
"The upcoming Sword Art Online movie will also be directed by the Sword Art Online series director Tomohiko Ito, with character design from Shingo Adachi," Cross Map reported. "The same production company, A-1 Pictures, behind the anime series, will be producing the Sword Art Online movie."
"There is still no confirmed news as to the path that the third season of Sword Art Online will take, though if the decision will rest solely on Sword Art Online Producer Shinichiro Kashiwada, he would prefer to work on the Alicization arc since it is something that has yet to be done before. Kashiwada did admit that the Progressive novels are almost complete."
"Interestingly, although Kashiwada stated what he wanted to do, he did not confirm what he was working on in the third season of Sword Art Online," the site added.
And while fans await more news about "Sword Art Online" season 3, good news about a season 4 has already made its rounds online.
"In a report by Inquisitr, manga creator Reki Kawahara's latest SAO light novel which is the Alicization arc will cover most of the two seasons in development," Kpopstarz reported.
"This SAO arc will be all about the 'Underworld,' where civilization and technology is nowhere close compared to the previous arcs, giving it more of a historical feel. The new roles to be played are Eugeo and Alice Schuberg."
