Valve has thrown the possibility of "Half Life 3" release date getting confirmed out the window earlier this year.

Many still believe that the game has been developed and has just been shelved for other projects.  In a recent report, another anticipated Valve title is alegedly more likely to get released than HL3.

"There have been some rumors regarding 'Left 4 Dead 3' for a long time, even since a leak of some screenshots allegedly showing Valve's internal bug tracking systems, in which we could see entries for that particular game," Master Herald reported.

"It was also implied that the game was being developed on Valve's new Source Engine 2, but we don't know if that's true nor if it will be the first game to come out with that engine either."

"Valve have already made a lot of progress in porting 'Dota 2' to that new engine, so it's not very likely that 'Left 4 Dead 3' will be the debut of that title, although it's certainly an interesting possibility and it could have some interesting implications for the engine and the franchise as a whole," the site continued.

A lot of fan theories have spread like wildfire regarding the anticipated release's launch.  One of the most popular, claimed that with the release of Valve's Source 2, it would not be long before developers will second it with a "Half Life 3" and "Left 4 Dead 3" confirmed release date announcement.

"Aside from 'Half Life 3,' Valve is also reportedly working on third installment of first person shooter game 'Left 4 Dead.' Both games will make use of Source 2 engines," Yibada reported.

"The two new game titles are expected to be faster and with more detailed graphics due to the presence of Vulcan graphics AP in Source 2 engine."
