There's no delay on release date (so far) just confusion: "Far Cry 5" will be coming in 2017, "Far Cry Primal" will be next year, within the bounds of their respective fiscal years.
While there really haven't been much updates about "Far Cry 5," some fans have misconstrued the release date to be delayed after the announcement of "Far Cry Primal" coming next year. Ubisoft merely announced that the release date for "Far Cry 5" will be within the fiscal year of 2016, which means there's a possibility that the fifth installment's release date will be on or before March 2017.
VineReport clarified the confusion and shared the release date of "Far Cry 5" and "Far Cry Primal." According to the report, "'Far Cry Primal' will be out by February 2016, which is technically part of the 2015 fiscal calendar." It pointed out that "while it is targeting the release of ['Far Cry 5'] in the franchise within the fiscal year of 2016, which could be until March 2017."
"Far Cry Primal" welcomes gamers to the "Stone Age, a time of extreme danger," the game's official site revealed.
"When giant mammoths and sabretooth tigers ruled the Earth, and humanity was at the bottom of the food chain. As the last survivor of your hunting group, you will learn to craft a deadly arsenal, fend off fierce predators, and outsmart enemy tribes to conquer the land of Oros and become the Apex Predator."
According to GameSpot, "Far Cry Primal" release date is set for Feb. 23, 2016.
Meanwhile, "Far Cry 5" set on a 2016 or 2017 release date will date will possibly carry on the more classic "Far Cry" gameplay as the 2014 "Far Cary 4." No confirmation about "Far Cry 5" release date as of the moment has been revealed.
"Far Cry 5" and "Far Cry Primal" have also caused some confusion as the latter has evolved into a full game, with some fans mixing the fifth installment to the main series. "Far Cry Primal" is a spin-off of the franchise, much like "Paradise Lost" in 2007 and "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" released in 2013.
