"Outlander" season 2 spoilers have confirmed that Clive Russell was cast as Simon, Jamie Fraser's grandfather, while Oscar Kennedy was called in to take the role of Lord John Grey.
It was already confirmed by Starz that Russell was joining the show's actors as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat.
Based on the series' source material, which was written by Diana Gabaldon, Simon was called the Old Fox because of his naturally manipulative personality. Plus, he is usually portrayed having intense arguments with his grandson, as Fashion & Style has pointed out.
This is not the first time that Russell was called in for a role in a highly watched period drama. He was recently cast as Brynden Tully, or The Blackfish, in "Game of Thrones," according to Cinema Blend. According to the report, he appeared in scenes that also featured his fellow "Outlander" season 2 star, Tobias Menzies.
In addition to Russell, "Outlander" season 2 spoilers also indicate that the network has already found its Lord John Grey in Kennedy. The 16-year-old actor was chosen to portray the young Lord. Although this information has remained neither confirmed nor denied by the network at this point, it is still making its rounds all over the Internet, according to Spoiler TV.
The scenes that they will be a part with were not revealed, but stars Graham McTavish and Sam Heughan took to social media to tease fans and followers that they are filming a heartbreaking "Dragonfly in Amber" scene - which is the second book in Gabaldon's series.
Earlier this month, Heughan wrote on social media that "it has been a great week on set," even though he had to film some very "tough scenes," in addition to having to work in "challenging conditions."
McTavish also hinted that there will be a very sad scene when he posted that the set was all about "messy, muddy sadness." Despite the sadness of the scene, he added that it was "really great." "As always, hats off to our fantastic crew!" he added.
