It is coming next year! Official details have been revealed for the much-awaited "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, with a release date that's not too far along.

After years of waiting, finally, showrunners behind "Tokyo Ghoul" have decided that it's time to reveal season 3 details, including the much-awaited release date. In a report by MoviePilot, "Tokyo Ghoul" boss and CEO of FUNimation Entertainment Gen Fukunaga shared that while it took a while for season 3, it is coming and it's coming fast with a release date set next year.

"With Season 2 now finished and Season 3 set for 2016, the anticipation for the game has only grown higher," revealed Mr. Fukunaga. Apart from this, the man behind "Tokyo Ghoul" also shared that while people have been anticipating the release date of season 3, a mobile game is also in development as the series continually gains in popularity.

"Ever since we began simulcasting the anime series last year, fans of 'Tokyo Ghoul' have been clamoring for a mobile game," he added.

While the report doesn't specify when in 2016 is the release date for season 3, AnimeMaru revealed additional information, pointing out that, "according to official sources, the series will air during the Winter 2016 anime season, and Madhouse will be taking over the animation from Studio Pierrot."

The same report also revealed a wee bit of detail about what could be coming for "Tokyo Ghoul" fans as season 3 arrives in its unspecified release date sometime during Winter 2016. According to the report, "'Tokyo Ghoul √(-1)' gives Touka Kirishima the spotlight that she missed out in the previous season. With its highly respected position in animating particularly darker types of shows, Madhouse will be continuing that trend in detailing Touka's descent into college application madness."

While previous reports have speculated that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is nearing cancellation as details including development progress and release date took a while to be announced, surely this updated news pacifies fans that the next installment is coming.

"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 release date is set vaguely on a winter 2016 date. But that's better than no announcement at all, yes?
