The network's decision to move the show to a new time slot came shortly after Dobrev exited the show to pursue a career in Hollywood. This led fans to believe that her decision to leave may have had something to do with the change. After all, the Internet was abuzz with fan complaints that they no longer cared about what happened on the show now that Elena was no longer a part of it.
