Bryan Singer's take on "X-Men: Days of Future Past" gave the 14-year-old blockbuster franchise with a fresh surge of energy. With its box office success, many have started to speculate about which actors they are going to see in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse."

Rumor has it that a casting shortlist has already been made for the younger version of Jean Grey and Cyclops, in addition to Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Michael Fassbender as Magneto. However, there still has been no confirmation as to who the powerful title villain is going to be.

There were earlier reports that Tom hardy of "The Dark Knight" was going to take on the role, but Jeff Sneider gave The Wrap three names that he has heard will be the strongest contenders for the role of Apocalypse. Sadly, Hardy was not among them.

Sneider told Mark Reilly of SchmoesKnow and Jeff Weintraub of Collider at "Meet the Movie Press," to dish about the movie's casting. Sometime around the middle of the interview, he dropped a hint about one of the actors whom he thinks will be chosen for the Apocalypse role. "We heard him say the word 'apocalypse' a lot last year," Sneider revealed.

Whether he did that on purpose or not no longer matters to the fans or the press, as long as he gave away an important clue as to who will be portraying the important role. Still, inductive reasoning has led a lot of people to believe that Idris Elba is the name that Sneider is referring to.

Just last year, in "Pacific Rim," Elba gave a rousing speech to rally his troops against the kaiju. He said, "Today, we are cancelling the apocalypse!" This line quickly became viral, especially as Elba kept repeating these words across the social media landscape.
