The fans might have to wait for the first female-led superhero movie for four years, however the industry experts feel that it will be worth the wait.

According to website Inverse.com, many Hollywood stars were contacted for this role and based on their understanding of the role and talent they will be selected shortly.

When Sienna Miller was contacted she said, ''Captain Marvel? Is that a girl? I'm not someone who read a lot of comic books and I don't really know that world particularly well...but I think it would be quite fun - for my kid as well. She'd like it'.'

Looking at this comment one might think of this as a selfless act as her kid would love it. However she clarified further adding that she is giving money more importance than a toon based character at this point-in-time in her career.

Meanwhile, "Jurrasic World" star Bryce Dallas Howard was also asked about the role and based from her statement, it looks like she is very eager to don the mantle of Captain Marvel.

Quoting the actress, ''Oh my God, will you write that? Will you write that please? Yes, let's start a campaign now. That would be rad. Those movies are so fantastic, because talk about just these incredibly drawn characters!"

"That's the joy of the comics, is that you fall in love with these characters and it's who they are that carries you from journey to journey to journey... it's not just about set pieces. It's really about who these people are, and so, yes, I just would love to be in a Marvel film."

Charlize Theron was offered the role, however she has been maintaining a bit of seclusion from media these days. Her comments were not available at this time.

Rebecca Ferguson after her block buster success in 'Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation' is rumoured to the top shortlisted candidate for Captain Marvel's role.

Katheryn Winnick's reaction to comic book roles in general is, ''would love to. Oh wow, there's so many. I'm such a fan of comic books. I grew up reading them. They were my idols. Like, these characters came to life for me! I don't think there's one in particular, either than I would love to play an action hero."
