Following the massive success of its predecessor, "Dishonored 2" has become one of the most anticipated video games of the year although reports say that the game's release date, which was originally announced for release on Spring 2016, may be pushed further to 2017.
"Dishonored 2," which is developed by Arkane Studios with preorders available for PS4 and Xbox One consoles, is set to introduce a new character (aside from original main character Corvo Attano): princess Emily Kaldwin.
Featured in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, one of "Dishonored 2's" creative directors Harvey Smith said that he wanted Emily Kaldwin to be different. Emily, in the first "Dishonored" was only a child watching main antagonist Corvo Attano do his mission. Emily was the game's emotional center and she exists as the player's emotional foil; but in "Dishonored 2," Emily Kaldwin is already an adult and is given a mission of her own.
The setting of "Dishonored 2" is mainly 15 years after "The Dunwall Plague," where Princess Emily Kaldwin is unrightfully removed from her throne and declared an outcast by a ghostly usurper leading to the fall of her empire.
"She's lived a fairly sheltered life, and now she's being thrust out into the world," Harvey Smith said. He added that he didn't want Emily to conform to most of the female video game characters, who were either "sexy but dangerous" or "cold and aloof;" and to become heroes, these female characters had to be brutalized until "they're just a barely held-together victim."
So when will "Dishonored 2" be released? Yibada, in its report, said that while Bethesda had decided to release the game in Spring 2016, the company is already reconsidering to push the release date to early 2017. This is to avoid stiff competition from other games that will be released and to provide developers more time to improve the game.
Venture Capital Post, on the other hand, noted that there are no official announcements yet regarding the delay for the release date of "Dishonored 2" so fans need not worry.
