Jimmy Fallon may be reigning the ratings race on late-night TV, but according to reports, Chelsea Handler was due for a comeback of sorts as well this year.

As reported by RollingStone, the former "Chelsea Lately" host will be coming back to "late night in some fashion" with a new talk show on Netflix. Not much information has been released about it including its title. But in an interview with People in November, Handler said she's taking talk shows in a new level this year.

"I am not being outrageous," she explained. "I am going to give viewers a younger, cooler '60 Minutes.'"

The new talk show that Chelsea Handler will headline won't be going head-to-head with Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and other hosts on late-night TV. According to Netflix executives, the show will be on-demand, digital and will be released only several times a week as told in Variety in September.

"Netflix is looking forward to reimagining the late night talk show for the on-demand generation, starting with the late night part...." Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos also said in a statement in 2014.

Amid being busy preparing for her new Netflix talk show, Handler has been rumored to be interested with Fallon's "Tonight Show" post. As told by Radar Online, the former "Chelsea Lately" host was reportedly on the sidelines waiting for another blunder from the former "SNL" cast member so she could take over the "Tonight Show."

The "Tonight Show" takeover rumors apparently was just gossip as the former "Chelsea Does" host has expressed in the past that she's not interested in late-night TV anymore.

"The last thing I would ever want to do is a late-night show," she told Siriux XM in November as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.

While Chelsea Handler may not become a threat to the late-night TV reign of Jimmy Fallon, the "Tonight Show" host has apparently said that a little competition was always welcome.

"It just makes everyone work a little bit harder," he told Esquire. "This is my Madison Square Garden. This is my home court, I'm comfortable here-this is where I play the best. I've learned from the best coaches and played with the best players. And I'm not worried. I play to win."
