The fans of Aamir Khan are very happy as the makers of ''3 Idiots'' had announced that they have a master plan for the sequel too. The film had R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in the cast, Kareena Kapoor in the female lead and Bomman Irani in a supporting role.

The makers did not mention anything about the cast of the sequel; however as per the grapevine reports the fans pretty much will be happy with the existing cast with some more additions.

In June 2015, Indiaglitz reported that there is a sequel of ''3 Idiots'' on its way. The director Raju Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi have confirmed this news. The movie had a budget of 55 Crore INR (USD 12 Million) and made a box office smashing collections of INR 392 Crore (USD 86 Million) in India. Including the overseas collections, it collected INR 564.69 Crores.

While answering to questions in a press meet, Joshi stated, "We have an idea for the 3 IDIOTS sequel, a MUNNA BHAI part three, and also for a PK sequel; but the PK and MUNNA BHAI sequels interest me the most. So, I think the 3 IDIOTS sequel may happen in the future, but these two I really want to work on."

This movie was based on the novel ''5 Point someone'' by renowned writer Chetan Bhagat which depicts the plight of the Indian youth. In middle class families in India, right from the childhood, parents emphasise them to concentrate only on studies and become doctors and engineers.

A child is often not given a chance to live his or her life. This results in poor academic performance and heightened frustration. The movie also talks about a burning issue of suicide among the student community.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra who was the producer of the original film intends to produce the sequel too. However the makers of the film did not talk anything about the plot of this upcoming project. So the wait continues.
