During the 2015 holiday shopping season, claims of tablets such as Apple's iPad Pro and the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 can replace a user's laptop, according to Business Insider.

Both names have pros in it but that does not mean that they are created equally having that in mind, users should consider what they need them for. As per pricing, the iPad Pro starts at $799 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 4's retail price begins at $899.

At first look, both tablets look very similar, having fold out keyboards, giant screens and great display. Compared to a standard iPad the Pro is massive but not heavy.

Meanwhile, keyboards that double as tablet cases costs $129 for the Surface Pro 4, while the iPad's smart keyboard costs $169. The smart keyboard is said to be a little cramped and it does not have a track pad. To get around the operating system, one has to use touch and it also does not have a "Home" button.

For input precision, the Apple iPad Pro offers the Apple Pencil Stylus which costs $99. On the other hand, the Surface Pen comes with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet.

The Surface Pen is comfortable to hold and it is light. The back can be used as an eraser. The Apple pencil feels closer to holding a real pen and the best way to charge it is via the iPad Pro's own Lightning charger. Neither Stylus needs much power but the Surface Pen needs an AAAA battery.

Both tablets flip up to mimic laptops. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has a kickstand that folds out of the back, which means it has the ability to lean all the way back so the user can have different viewing angles; However, the "kickstand" option does not sit neatly on a lap.

The Apple iPad Pro does not have USB ports, while the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has one and a MicroSD slot for more storage. Its charging cable has an additional USB port as well.

Both are well made and the tablets look great. When it comes to software, there's a big difference between the two. The iPad Pro runs on Apple iOS 9 and has split-screen apps and users can have two apps running simultaneously, with a video in the corner.

The Surface Pro 4 runs on Windows 10 and users can have many apps open. Windows has also the ability to split the screen evenly.

The Surface Pro 4's display measures 12.3 inches, while the iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch screen. Microsoft claims a seven-hour battery life and Apple's tablet has 10 hours, revealed Pocket-lint.
