After the smashing success of ''Bad Boys'' and ''Bad Boys II'' imdb reported the possibility of ''Bad Boys III'' which will be released in 2017.
It is rumoured that Joe Carnahan will direct the movie and Will Smith will play the role of Detective Mike Lowrey. Martin Lawrence will play the role of Detective Marcus Burnett.
''Bad Boys'' was released in 1995 and the plot evolved around, Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith). In the movie they are best friends and detectives in the narcotics division of the Miami Police Department.
As reported by wikia, Martin Lawrence announced that BB3 will be released in 2017. He was appearing at The Mo'Nique Show in 2011.
''Bad Boys'' was distributed by Columbia Pictures. It made $141.4 million in the box office in the US.
Its sequel ''Bad Boys II'' was released in 2003 and starred Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, Jordi Mollà, Gabrielle Union, Peter Stormare Theresa Randle and Joe Pantoliano.
The second film too was very successful on box office and scooped up a whopping $273.3 million in the US. Both the movies were directed by Michael Bay. Now since it is rumoured that Joe Carnahan will direct the movie, the fans of the ''Bad boys'' franchise are speculating the success of it.
The good part is that the lead roles have been kept intact even though Will Smith's part is not yet confirmed.
Slashfilm reported way back in 2009 that Columbia Pictures has hired Peter Craig to write a screenplay for Bad Boys 3. It was the initial announcement and the cast was not confirmed.
There is no further concrete information about the cast of this third instalment of the trilogy. Jerry Bruckheimer who had produced the first 2 prequels will produce this one too. Phillip j. Woods will be the director of photography.
As per Wikipedia, in June 2014, during the Monte Carlo Television Festival, Bruckheimer the producer of the trilogy announced that Safe House screenwriter David Guggenheim is currently working on the storyline for the sequel.
In July 2014, during an interview they asked if Bad Boys III is still happening, in which Bruckheimer replied, "Well, we're working on an outline right now. Hopefully we'll get a screenplay in the next three months. And that will become a movie I hope."
