Sad news for Katy Perry fans as Hollywoodlife reported in Sep. 2015 that Katy Perry will not be working on any new albums for a while. That was surely a heart breaker for the millions of her fans.

However Kpopstarz reported in Oct. 2010 that she plans to release her next album in 2016.

Katheryn Elizabeth "Katy" Hudson, known by her stage name Katy Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album ''Katy Hudson'' in 2001. Even though this album was commercially not very successful, she finally managed to get signed by Capitol Records in April 2007 for a recording contract.

Her singles "I Kissed a Girl" was very successful and brought fame to Perry. It was a part of her second album ''One of the Boys'' which also had other chart buster tracks including a pop rock "Hot n Cold". Her third album which was released in 2010 ''Teenage Dream'' moved from the pop rock genre and ventured into disco.

"California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T.", "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "The One That Got Away" were the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart buster singles which brought her to a lot of media attention.

This album became the first by a female artist to produce five number-one Billboard Hot 100 songs only after Michael Jackson's ''Bad'' which was a huge success for an upcoming artist.

Her fourth album, ''Prism'', was released in 2013, and is influenced by pop and dance and was very successful. Its super selling tracks "Roar" and "Dark Horse" were extremely popular with the teen and youth across the globe.

Perry's fans have been waiting to hear something new after her amazing 2013 album ''Prism''. She told Hollywood life in an exclusive interview, "I'm still on tour so when I get off tour is when I will start to refocus,"

On Nov. 23, 2014, the NFL announced that Perry would perform at the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show on Feb. 1, 2015. She was also busy with her debut movie venture. Perry reprised her role as ''Smurfette'' in ''The Smurfs 2'', which was released in theatres on July 31, 2013. This too did well in the box-office.

Perry has received many awards, including four Guinness World Records. She has been included in the Forbes list (2011-15) of "Top-Earning Women In Music".

So is her fifth album on its way, or will the fans have to wait longer?
