Swedish startup MyFC unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Jan. 6 their latest innovation that would put aside lithium-ion batteries - the pocket-sized JAQ hydrogen fuel charger that works without the need for electric outlet.

According to The Verge on Jan. 6, the company developed a sealed card containing salt and water that is meant to be inserted in the charger, while its 10 hydrogen fuel cells create a chemical reaction, converting the energy into 1,800 milliampere-hours.

That energy is enough to fully charge a Samsung Galaxy S6 or iPhone 6S smartphone through USB.

"The search is over - you'll never have to plug into a power jack again," claimed MyFC on their website. "Ideal for everyday, on-the-go living, JAQ is completely off-the-grid. It's always ready power, generated from water and salt contained in a slim power card. When the card is inserted into the charger, hydrogen is produced to fuel up the cell and power you on."

"It's instant, smart, clean portable charging," it added.

MyFC envisions users to be carrying 10 to 20 JAQ cards in their pouches as they travel worry-free, confident that their devices can stay powered for up to three weeks, without any power plugs, noted Phone Arena on Jan. 7.

"Electricity is self-generated when a fresh PowerCard is inserted into the JAQ charger," explained MyFC. "The inserted PowerCard then provides 1,800 mAh to enable a full smart phone charge. Once your charge is complete, you remove the single-use PowerCard and throw it away."

"The card and its fuel are made from recycled materials, water and salt," it added. "After use, the card can be disposed of as a regular waste."

The company has not yet released details on the pricing for JAQ fuel cell charger, but it plans to distribute their product trough carriers and earn profits through users' monthly subscriptions that would include new cartridges every month.
