Lionsgate has reportedly shifted the release date of the upcoming "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot.

The news that the release date of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" has been delayed to March 24, 2017, was revealed via the movie's official Instagram account on Thursday.

The movie was originally scheduled for a January 2017 release after being pushed back from the original July 2017 slot.

According to Business Standard, the studio delayed the release to avoid a competitive weekend as other potential blockbusters including Sony's "The Dark Tower," Paramount's "Friday the 13th (2017)", Warner Bros.' "Geostorm," 20th Century Fox's and Paramount's "Monster Trucks" are all scheduled for Jan. 13, 2017 release.

With its new release date, the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot will only compete against "The Mummy".

In the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie, English actress and singer Naomi Scott will be seen portraying the role of Pink Ranger named Kimberly Hart.

Australian actor Dacre Montgomery will essay the role of  Red Ranger, Jason Lee Scott. "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" fame RJ Cyler will play Blue Ranger named Billy Cranston.

Chinese actor Ludi Lin will play Black Ranger, Zachary (Zack) Taylor, while Becky Gomez, also known as YouTube star Becky G, will play the Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan.

According to Anime News Network, actor and pro-MMA fighter Jason David Frank, who starred in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series as Tommy Oliver, has expressed his enthusiasm over making a possible cameo in the upcoming film.

The "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot will include Dean Isrealite as the director, Haim Saban, the original creator of the 1993 series, Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur as producers of the film and Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller as the scriptwriters, reported Korea Portal.

This will be the third time that the Power Rangers franchise has been brought to the big screen following "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie" in 1995 and "Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie" in 1997.
