Fans of the legendary rock band 'Kiss' were quite unsure if their favorite band would hit the studios again to record a new album for 2016.

Numerous reports claimed Gene Simmons was highly optimistic about releasing a new Kiss album for 2016. However, according to sources, Paul Stanley doesn't feel that the band needs to release a new record in order to proceed.

"There has to be a purpose to us doing an album," the guitarist said the guitarist said in an interview with Classic Rock Magazine.

"There was a time when we did albums because the contracts said so. But I only want to work now when it's justified. Sonic Boom was an album that was very much needed to be done, and Monster just felt like, 'Well, we did Sonic Boom - let's see where we go from here," Stanley said, reported Loudwire.

"Having accomplished that, I feel we can move forward without new music. There are enough things going on in KISS that right now it doesn't feel utterly necessary to make a new album."

However, Stanley did state that position could change in future.

"Anything is possible," said the vocalist. "But at the moment, I don't see it on the horizon. I'm not one to ever say never."

Band member Gene Simmons had a different opinion about Kiss releasing a new album this 2016.

"It will happen when we have time," the bassist said in an interview, reported Ultimate Classic Rock"I have music in me that needs to come out. I recently wrote a song called 'Your Wish Is My Command.' It feels like a Kiss song and it just needs to be released on a Kiss album."

The Kiss bassist insisted that Stanley was onboard the project and that he was going to produce the new record when he said, "I'm glad about that-I no longer have the energy to come to the studio every day."

"Paul doesn't have so many other things in his life that demand attention, so he can concentrate fully on the project," Simmons concluded.
