The NBA trade rumors continue to include the New York Knicks as they try to make it to the playoffs.

From last year's embarrassing season, having a shot at the playoffs is already a big improvement for the Big Apple team. However, they may still be missing a valuable piece.

As Fansided points out, the Knicks still need to make a trade to improve their backcourt. They have young players like Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant, but they need veteran presence and Jose Calderon does not seem to cut it.

Enter Ty Lawson of the Houston Rockets. This is admittedly a big risk as the Rockets just got burned in their gamble for him, but it coud be worth a shot.

"This suggestion comes with a big question mark, simply because of the multiple off-court issues Ty Lawson has dealt with over the last year," Fansided writer Tom West wrote. "The Knicks may consider him and then quickly rule him out if they want to avoid any potential damage he could deal to the team's chemistry and locker room."

Lawson's non-guaranteed contract for next season significantly reduces the risk for the Knicks, and if New York could somehow be the best environment for Lawson (remember, they do have the Zen Master Phil Jackson), it could be beneficial in the long term.

One factor that Yibada points out about Lawson going to the Knicks is that he and Carmelo Anthony are former teammates. They mention that "a change of scenery could help Lawson, especially if Carmelo Anthony supports him."

There could be better trades but acquiring Lawson is seen as a "doable" trade since the Rockets seem to be set on moving him.
