Avril Lavigne has been off the radar in the music industry for a while except for some news about her and ex-husband Chad Kroeger and her battle with Lyme disease.

But the pop rock star is slowly coming back to the music industry and it's possible that she should be busy in the coming months this year.

One of her latest projects was a collaboration with Nick Carter with a single titled "Get Over Me." The anthem-like song featured the vocals of both artists that will make you think of her days singing "Sk8er Boi." But being experienced artists, the song has a different focus.

According to Bustle, the song "find the two artists singing about dealing with an obsessive partner in a casual (and almost dismissive) way that undercuts the seriousness of their respective situations."

But aside from Avril's single with Nick Carter, she is also rumored to be collaborating with another popular singer. According to Inquisitr, Avril Lavigne might be collaborating with Harry Styles of One Direction. Since the band is currently on hiatus, Harry could be free to work with other artists and Avril Lavigne should be a perfect fit for the pop rock vibe.

Actually, the main reason why rumors circulated about Harry Styles working with Avril started when Harry started following Avril on twitter. Immediately after that single online event, "AVRIL FEAT HARRY" immediately became a trending topic with memes and fan reactions. No confirmation from both camps on possible collaborations.

Although there are no additional collaborations or projects announced, the fact that Avril is back on her musical roots should be welcome news for her fans. The last time fans of the alternative-pop-rock star heard her belt out an original was in a single "Fly" that she specifically composed for the Special Olympics. According to the singer's official website, all proceeds will be given to the Special Olympics.
