The release date of "The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 has been confirmed. The anime will be released sometime in 2016, according to Anime News Network.

"The Seven Deadly Sins" Season 2 release date announcement was made in a short commercial video, which was aired during the final episode of "Arslan Senki," or "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" last Sept. 26, 2015.

Released on Oct. 5, 2014, the first season of the "The Seven Deadly Sins" ended with 24 episodes. Only six of the series' characters were introduced to viewers by the end of the season.

It is expected that the seventh character could be introduced early in the second season, even though he has yet to make an appearance in the manga, reported Korea Portal.

At the end of the season one, the main story arc concluded with Meliodas and his group victorious.

If "The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 follows the manga, viewers are likely to see a new group of enemies, collectively known as "The Ten Commandments."

According to TV Tropes, these are characters belonging to the Demon Clan, which was resurrected right after the end of the first season.

"The Seven Deadly Sins" fans can expect an action-packed season two if the anime follows the manga. In the upcoming series, it is expected that Meliodas, the group's leader, will finally get his full powers reinstated.

The immortal Ban will head on a mission to resurrect his love and Escanor, Lion's Sin of Pride, will likely join the gang. Everyone will try to level up their powers in order to fight their new enemies "Ten Commandments."

With a new story and new characters, it is expected that "The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 will turn out to be as successful as the first, which bagged the best shonen manga title in the 39th Kodansha Manga awards.

Fans can catch the first season of the anime TV series "The Seven Deadly Sins" on Netflix.
