Little by little, we unravel minor and major details for the much-awaited sequel to the massive hit "Guardians of the Galaxy;" and most recently, reports have surfaced about the huge villain of "Vol. 2."
Geek.com revealed in its report that the massive super villain, Ego, The Living Planet, will be making an appearance in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." To those who don't know him, the reason why Ego is called a living planet is because it has evolved and developed organic tributes. Ego is a planet with complete human features: eyes, nose, beard and brain. Hence, it is able to move by its own will and it has a consciousness about the universe.
Ego The Living Planet, during his journey, came face to face with Thor and when they battled, Ego was defeated. He did not stop there, he continued traversing the universe, meeting other superheroes like the Fantastic Four and others. And according to Comicbook.com, as a cosmic entity of note, Ego has ties to "Guardians of the Galaxy" characters Thanos and The Collector (Benicio del Toro).
With Ego as the villain in "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2," Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Batista) and Groot (Vin Diesel) will be up for a much bigger and weirder foe.
Uproxx, on the other hand, believes Ego the Living Planet will not be the sequel's main antagonist. Ego, the report said, is usually just a side character, who is "usually only brought out when somebody needs a galactic menace or when Marvel editorial wants to take a potshot or two."
The report also highlighted that Ego is still undeveloped as a villain and casting Ego as the main villain may be quite difficult to film.
Comicbook.com also confirmed that the official release date for "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2" will be on May 5, 2017.
