There may be a war brewing between Netflix and NBC when it came to rating supremacy. The issue came up just after the streaming service announced the dates for its latest new releases.

In a report on The Guardian, an executive of the streaming platform recently blasted NBC for releasing data about their service's ratings calling it "inaccurate."

"There's a couple of mysteries in play for me," Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos.  "One is, why would NBC use their lunch slot with you guys to talk about our ratings?"

"The second is, the methodology and the measurement and the data itself doesn't reflect any sense of reality of anything that we keep track of."

The latest numbers that Sarandos dismissed was NBC's claim that Netflix's ratings weren't apparently as impressive despite its new releases and other shows.

According to Vox, NBC Universal purported that the highest rate of the streaming service was "Jessica Jones" and it only averaged at 4.8 million viewers per episode. The number was much lower than what "The Voice" regularly raked in, which was 12 million a night. The figures were apparently measured by tech firm, Symphony.

But as cited by Entertainment Weekly, Sarandos said their streaming service was never numbers-focused.

"That puts a lot of pressure on the talent that we don't want," he explained. "If we turn it into a weekly arms race by doing box scores for every [Nielsen-issued ratings report, we're] going to have the same result as it's had on [traditional] television, which I think has been remarkably negative in terms of the quality of shows."

Netflix has always tried to revolutionize viewing pleasure with most of its original movies and TV series geared to lure adults.

But as told by the Wall Street Journal, they plan to make their latest new releases kid-friendly and family-oriented soon. They said the original 15 programs for kids will be raised to 35 shows in the comings months.

Aside from that, the service will also be dropping online its latest offerings including shows such as "Flaked," "The Ranch," "Kong: King of Apes," "Marseille," "Word Party" and "Stranger Things."
