CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller had already confirmed during the Television Critics Association's press tour in Pasadena that the sci-fi drama "Person of Interest" will be returning this spring for Season 5.
But, fans are still anxious about the rumors that circulate around the Web saying that the upcoming will also be the series finale.
"We ordered 13 episodes, we hope to get them on this spring," Glenn Geller announced to the delight of the fans via Entertainment Weekly.
"That's what we're targeting right now. [Showrunners Jonah Nolan and Greg Plageman] have planned a terrific season. Can't wait for the fans of the show to see it. It'll be a real treat for viewers," he added.
And when asked if Season 5 is the final season, Geller said, "No, we haven't aired the show yet. I'm not sure."
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams has earlier commented that "Person of Interest" was on its "final leg." Abrams further revealed that the writers have already written a finale that functions as a series ender, to which Geller commented, "I think it could function as series and season finale."
Parent Herald, in its report, said that fans will be happy to know that in Season 5, there will be more romance for Root (Amy Acker) and Shaw (Sarah Shahi). Accordingly, the report said that Root will continue to struggle choosing between Shaw and the Machine.
"That's been a struggle because they are both priorities to her," Amy Acker teased. "At the end of last year, she ultimately had to decide that if she didn't do everything to save the Machine, there's no purpose to saving Shaw."
Amy Acker said further that if Season 5 will, indeed, be the finale season, she hopes Root and Shaw would find their "happily ever after" and that they would live together with the Machine, with Bear and with the twins.
