The premiere date of the much-awaited HBO series "Vinyl" in the US will be on Feb. 14 while it would debut in the UK a day after.

The 10-part drama series will give viewers a glimpse of the crazy and wild music industry during the 70s. This is a dream project of Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger and award-winning director Martin Scorsese together with "Boardwalk Empire" creator Terence Winter.

The "Vinyl" cast will be headed by Bobby Cannavale as Richie Finestra, Olivia Wilde as Devon Finestra, and Ray Romano as Zak Yankovich. Also starring in the Memoriam episode for David Bowie is Noah Bean, who is known for his role in "Nikita" and "Morning Glory."

According to Showbiz 411, the two-hour premiere episode of "Vinyl" will feature many rock stars and Noah Bean can be seen in episode six which will be a Memoriam special for David Bowie. The setting will be in circa 1973 to 1974 so viewers can see the legendary singer during his "Diamond Dogs" days.

The new HBO series "Vinyl" was based on the Mick Jagger's concept of two friends than covered the music industry for 40 years. It featured both the good times and bad times including the songs, performances, money men and the success and downfalls.

According to Independent UK, Martin Scorsese will be directing the two-hour premiere episode and his goal is to let the viewers believe that they are actually in New York during the 70s.

"It's a project is something that's very close to my heart," the director said. "I've wanted to make it for a long time and I have been heavily involved in the first season, overseeing production, working on the tone and music. I intend to continue to be involved in as [many] of the episodes as possible - and hope to direct a few more."

"The Wolf of Wall Street" director also revealed the challenges that they faced during production of the new HBO series.

"We knew that we wanted to have real people like David Bowie and Led Zeppelin alongside fictional characters, but the question was how to integrate these people - the real people and the fictional people," Scorsese explained. "It was a really interesting thing to discuss: how to make that concept work."

Some of the "Vinyl" cast members that will be portraying famous rock stars include Mick Jagger's son James Jagger as Kip Stevens of the Nasty Bits, Blake DeLong as Alice Cooper drummer Neil Smith, and Delius Doherty as soul singer Otis Redding.
