It looks like the new "Matrix" trilogy is coming to fruition as reports indicate that there will be two movies coming up for the same franchise.

The new movie is set to be released sometime in 2017. The latest news from the makers ''The Wachowski Brothers'' states that on popular demand from the fans they are giving a considerable thought about releasing the movie sooner.

It is reported that the two new sequels will be shot in 3D. NME reported that the creator of ''Avatar'' James Cameron is giving suggestions to the Wachowskis regarding the nitty gritties of the 3D filmmaking.

For some time ''The Wachowski Brothers'' had taken a backseat regarding coming up with the new plot as there was a legal claim against the ''Matrix Franchise.'' However as per the news in BBC, the California judge had negated the plagiarism charges and declared that ''Matrix Series'' is not like ''The Immortals.''

Reeves said they were keen to deliver something which has "never been seen" and would "truly transform" the action movie genre'' reported NME.

2016 will be big for Keanu Reeves. His movie ''Exposed'' which went for a limited release on Jan. 22, 2016 in the US is already creating waves in the film fraternity.

Now since Reeves is free from his post-production and promotions of ''Exposed'' will he take up the roles in "Matrix 4" and 5?

Den of Greek way back in 2011 reported that ''Reeves, seemingly acknowledging the problems with The Matrix sequels, also apparently said that "he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionise the action genre like the first movie".

The film critics are not sure why two movies were announced. And the fans are waiting for an official release date of "Matrix 4."

So will Reeves reprise the role of Neo? Most of the film media has speculated that he will return as Neo however ''The Wachowski Brothers'' did not come up with any official press release confirming the same.
